Horse racing is probably the biggest gambled on sport in the world although football can’t be far behind, when gambling on a horse it is important to know the characteristics of the horse, track jockey etc.
In flat racing (especially in the bigger grade races) I always spend a little time researching what the trainer has done at the track in question and whether he has a history of winning the particular race, to give you an example Sir Michael Stoute is probably the best trainer in the World at churning super fast sprinters (especially 2 year olds) so to follow his horses at whatever grade if they are 2 year old normally leaves you up at the end of the season.

Stalls can also play a massive part in your selection, after a downpour of rain tracks in England seem to get soggier in places so on the straight races following stalls that have already won earlier in the day can reap rewards.

Jump racing which is my favourite out of the Two is normally a little bit easier to catch a winner; I stick to Weights as unlike flat racing the age does not really make much difference. A perfect bet for me would be to have a horse that has been placed at the course in question in the past but to carrying less weight than before, normally during the Jumping season if you look hard enough there are two or three horses like this on race days.

But gambling within your means is always the main thing and to enjoy it is what really matters.
