Beijing Olympics

Well now it has all finished I would like to write something on Great Britain’s achievements in China because as someone that has loved watching the Olympics for years I would like to say how proud I am for once to be British because unlike all the other Olympics where Britain were regular under achievers this time they really showed the rest of the World that they are capable of grabbing gold Medals and also a few World Records as well.

A few months back I wrote an article in which I said I expected the Australian team to once again dominate the Swimming events but at the time I had never heard of a teenager from Britain by the name of Rebecca Adlington (actually she is from Mansfield which is less than ten miles from where I live) Adlington completed her rapid transformation from unknown athlete to Olympic superstar by becoming the first British swimmer for a century to win two gold medals at a single Olympic Games.

Rebecca herself said she just wanted to gain experience from Beijing but after grabbing gold by her finger tips in the 400m freestyle she went one better in the 800m grabbing gold and smashing the World record also.
Chris Foy grabbed 3 gold’s in the cycling making him the most successful Olympian from Britain in over hundred years and with London hosting 2012 and with the British team set to gain thousands of Pounds to help them in their preparation for London from various sources Team GB will surely have a super talented team in their home Olympics and with the fans all still hysterical form their recent achievements I can only imagine what it will be like in Four years.
