This is a quarter page that I’ve taken from a national free newspaper called the Metro. Like many others they’re advertising their own site. To be honest this is a slightly different style to most in the fact that they’re promoting their website, but they’re not making the most of their opportunity to get the name of the website across. It is quite a basic advert that is mainly pushing popular sporting events, football, racing,etc.
This advert was taken from a sports page in the paper so it is clearly aimed more at the male audience, which is why they have used large text for the message "the biggest range of sports bets" and also a big picture of a football at the bottom. Despite this being a basic ad I think it will really grab the attention of it’s target audience, mainly because men like "basic". The word ‘exclusive’ makes the reader think they priviledged to get this offer. Also how if you place a large bet of £25 they give you a bet worth double that for free, most men would read this and already know what their bet is going to be before they even sign up! They use the bottom of the advert to make use of pushing the website.
